Meet the Artist

Hello, I’m Viola Joyner, the digital artist and creative force behind Melanated Art Prints. My work is rooted in celebrating Black culture, heritage, and empowerment through bold, modern, Afrocentric fine art.

My background spans abstract art, graphic design, and photography, but traditional freehand drawing was never a talent I possessed. Everything changed in 2024 when I discovered the power of AI-assisted creativity through tools like Midjourney, Discord, and ChatGPT. These innovative technologies opened a new world for me, allowing me to create artwork far beyond my previous drawing abilities.

Today, I blend AI-generated imagery with my own artistic vision—enhancing and transforming each piece using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create polished, expressive, culturally meaningful digital fine art prints.

As I continue to grow as an artist, I’m excited to explore new mediums, including watercolor, acrylics, and mixed media, to expand my creative practice and introduce original hand-painted works into my collection.

My mission is simple but deeply personal:
“To create fine art prints that promote empowerment, representation, and cultural richness inspired by the heart and soul of the Black American experience.”

A little about me personally—I'm a proud Chicago native, born and raised in the windy city. My passion for creativity and entrepreneurship started when I was just 10 years old. A nomad at heart, my journey has taken me from Chicago to New York City (Brooklyn), Atlanta, Las Vegas, and now the radiant desert of Phoenix, Arizona. Each city has shaped my artistic voice and broadened my connection to culture, community, and creativity.

So that’s a glimpse into my world—my art, my travels, and my love for big, soulful cities. Who knows where I’ll land next… maybe London? What I do know is that my creative journey is still unfolding, and I’m grateful to share it with you through Melanated Art Prints.
